All participants are invited.  Free for all registered participants Conference Dinner (Wednesday 20/9/2017 21:00)  The conference dinner will be held on September the 20th at 21.00 in a Cretan Traditional  tavern located 8 km from Heraklion. The menu will include a wide variety of Cretan food,  pastry and local wine. Event will start with folklore dances and will close with a mix of  Greek and international party. (Includes transfer from-/to- hotel). Cost: 40 € Archaeological site of Knossos Palace - Heraklion Museum - City  tour  (Tuesday 19/9/2017 08:30-13:30)  A  flash-back to Crete's ancient history, an era of legendary kings and fascinating myths.  The excursion to the Archeological site of Ancient Messini will take place on September  19th morning. A guided tour around the complex labyrinth of Knossos Palace, the capital of  the Minoan civilization dated back in 2000 B.C., and experience the Minoan grandeur.  Then, we go back to the city of Heraklion, where you have free time to visit the most  important sites of both historical and cultural importance. (Includes transfer, official English  speaking guide and escort). Cost: 25 € (plus 16 € for entrance fees) Free for accomapnying persons Cretaquarium (Wednesday 20/9/2017 11:30-14:45)  This is where your exploration of the Mediterranean Sea World begins. Here, you will come  face to face with hundreds of species and thousands of living organisms and be fascinated  by their behavior as they reveal the wide variety of shapes, colors, habits in their world.  Learn about their needs and reflect what our common future may hold... (Includes transfer,  English speaking guide, lunch buffet). Don’t forget casual dress, comfortable shoes,  camera. Cost: 35 € (plus 6 € for entrance fees) Cruise to Santorini island (Monday 18/9 to Friday 22/9 08:00-  19:30)* *optional for accompanying persons  *post-conference excursion The world famous Santorini is the southern most Cycladic island in the Aegean Sea.  Magnificent setting, bright and sunny weather, delicious local cuisine and wine. The  wildness of the landscape, the breathtaking view, the multicolored beaches formed by the  volcano's lava and the deep blue Aegean Sea combine a picture of wild, proud and  imposing beauty. Visit to town of Fira with its whitewashed houses clinging along the edge  of 400 meter-high vertical cliffs. Unique vistas offered by the stark colors of the red cliffs,  the deep blue Aegean, the black molten lava rocks. Optional visit to the fantastic  archaeological excavations of Akrotiri, or taking a boat trip around the impressive still-  smoldering volcano. (Includes: boat tickets, transfer Port- Fira - Port official English  speaking guide and half day tour to Fira and Oia - Perissa) Cost: 150 € Elounda-Spinalonga and BBQ (Friday 22/9/2017 09:00-17:30)*  *post-conference excursion - minimum number of 30 participants is required Departure in the morning heading East, towards the town Elounda. It was once a small  seaside fishing village located in the Cretan prefecture of Lassithi, lying around the coast  from the large town of Aghios Nikolaos. The settlement of Elounda dates back to ancient  times, the Minoan/Roman city of Olous lay only metres from the current site of the town.  The archaeological site of Olous is submerged near Elounda's salt flats and can still be  seen today.Texts found at the site described a pact between the city of Olous and the  Minoan capital of Knossos and also the island of Rhodes. The city of Olous features in a  Greek Myth concerning the mountain city of Oxa, this is known as the "Myth of Mount Oxa".  After stay in Elounda, we take a boat to visit Spinalonga, the small island at the entrance of  Elounda bay. The fortress of Spinalonga, which was built by the Venetians, is one of the  strongest on the whole island of Crete. Spinalonga is also well known as the place of the  last leper colony.
